I want to show the new media clip feature of starting and stopping the video
in PowerPoint while using the media VCR controls on the bottom of the window,
but the object Media Clip is missing from my list. Help.

Hi Tim,

What hapens if you click on Insert, Object, Create from File and choose the
media clip?

Hi, I updated Windows yesterday and now have the same problem: "insert media
clip" is no longer an option (even though I inserted 40 clips into my
presentation before yesterday, I can't now that I accepted "critical
servicing" from MS). When I attempt to follow the recommendation given here
(i.e., just go find the file directly and insert it), the result is that i've
imported the entire Windows Media Player (with video clip) into my PPT. This
is NOT what I want. I want a simple video clip in the slide -- not to have a
presentation interrupted by the ENTIRE player. Please help me -- this is
urgent.

In that case, try Insert/Movies and Sound/Movie From File, then just
navigate to the video.

This inserts the video without the Windows Media Player skins.

I uninstalled the XP service pack 2 and that fixed it. Try that. Yes --
incredibly annoying.

Yes that is what I had to do but uninstalling SP2 opens up another can of MS
Worms, I might have to reinstall SP2 and live without the control feature.
Of course Bill Gates reads all these and is working furiously in his garage
to come up with a real fix!

Yes, I'm now experiencing the thrill of trojan horses, etc...but since my PPT
+ video is for work purposes, I have to accept the worms and hope that some
are also crawling in Bill's belly as I type this.
