template where I can create my own column headings and then total the columns
as I go along.
 
Whenever you open Excel you have a blank template where you can create
whatever columns you want to, save it and work on it from there. To total
the columns you must use a formula which you can probably get by clicking on
the help button and typing in the question. Hope this helps
