Best regards.
AFAIK Ranish Paritition Manager, or if you don't mind Linux QParted (no
need to install if you use Knoppix).

I just love it when people recommend software but don't post the links.

A search turned up 2 entries and both seemed to point at Linux. I don't
read anywhere in the OP where he asked for Linux.

Ranish is not just Linux.
http://www.ranish.com/part/

From what I have read, Ranish is not even close to par with Partition
Magic. I have PM 8. Even if it is not free, when I am playing around with
that level of an OS, I will not take unneccessary chances. I really hate
reinstalling _everything_!

QParted search came up with many, many hits yet no URL I could find in 10
minutes on broadband. The one comment I found suggests QParted is roughly
equivalent to PM yet Open Source. Now one needs only to find a download
source.

QTparted is on Sourceforge:

From reading the documentation on the page, sounds like QParted is not
quite ready for prime time.

2 weeks ago, I repartioned my 40GB HDD, made my primary partion bigger
(fat32), divided the lext. part. new in a couple of log. part. and 2
linx partitions (ext3).
Works fine

I did not have the time to give a detailed answer, but I thought maybe a
short note is better than nothing. I thought that I gave him two useful
hints. Sorry if I offended you.

Don't sweat it, Bernd.

Out of curiousity I gogled and got a million hits, the very first one
mentioned Windows, linux, dual booting etc.

Even I could have followed it up.

I do have an issue with Ranish, though, it's probably me, but I can never
get it to delete a patition.

When arranging to dual boot fedora, I had to use stuff like slate to clean
the disk, I had about 14 partitions with Ranish, making them all the time,
but never deleting my mistaken efforts. But Partition Magic wouldn't even
look at it, said it was stuffed! Even after Slate Ranish was still
reporting loads of partitions

Hi everyone,

Best regards.

Try SystemRescueCD! It is a bootable CDROM that contains many utilities
including QTParted , a free partition magic clone.

Even thought SystemResecueCD uses Linux, Windows users need not be afraid!!
You do NOT need to install Linux. Just boot off the SystemRescueCD. You
may not even realise that Linux is being used as the underlying OS.

The URL is www.sysresccd.org
