When I start my computer (win 2000) It goes on as a normal
bootup then a blue screen flashes...it does have words on
it but goes by too quick. I have tried all of the f8
commands and it will not go into safe mode at all or
command prompt. Just keeps restarting. So needless to
say...I cant run av on it or even search for any of the
know viral files. So... Now what? Anyone who can
help...it is appreciated.

Hi

You could boot from the install CD and do a repair install.

Thanks, but I have been there done that. It just does not
work!!!

What doesn't work? Do you mean you still get the same problem? Can you boot
from the install CD OK? Are you sure it's not a hardware problem? Can you
boot to a DOS floppy, for instance? Why not install a new copy of WIN2K on
a separate partition then do a virus scan of the complete system? Don't you
have a system backup you can restore?

Hi Beth,
I used to work in a Disaster Recovery lab, and we would
see this in W2k from time to time. I used to do a
parallel install of the OS, then set the option to
automatically reboot on error to off (i.e. clear the
checkbox).

Eoin.
