Think I have said this before but have just put in a new sound card and the
recorded voice is fine until I try and do it in PowerPoint and then is
horribly distorted. Both mic and PowerPoint work well together on laptop but
not desktop

Hi,

When you go Slideshow| record narration, try the Change Quality option to
change the quality. Maybe 8 or 16 bit stereo. also, adjust your microphone
level with the Set microphone level button. Does this help?

Please tell us your PowerPoint / Windows version,
whether you are using vba, or
anything else relevant

Glen,
I am using Windows XP media centre edition and Office 2003 student version.
I am not trying to record narration, just embed sound byte/comments on what
is on the screen [for delayed children, often using photos of themselves or
pictures] I have been doing this for years with various versions of Windows
and PowerPoint and it is one of my main teaching programs. Its normally
brilliant. My all-bells-and-whistles Dimension 9150 Dell wont do it whereas
my old Inspiron 2650 will!!!! Grrrrr
Hils
ps what is vba?
