i just downloaded windows xp service pack 2, and now when i click on a
PowerPoint link from a website, the File Download box only gives me the
option to 'save' or 'cancel.' i do not have the option to just open. can
anybody help?

I suspect this is one of the security features in Windows XP SP-2. You might
post this question in the Windows XP newsgroup; they'll probably know for
sure.

The SP may have trampled your security settings.

Try Tools, Internet Options, Security tab.
Click Internet, then click Custom Level.
Scroll down a bit and see what the setting is for "File download"
If it's disabled, that's your "Bingo".
Enable it and try again.
