I am about to learn Powerpoint, and have 2000 at office and 2002 at home.

Should I get the MS manual for the 2000 or the 2002
version? Will it be easier to move 2002 presentations to
2000 version of Powerpoint, or vice versa?

Is there a free or inexpensive way to upgrade from 2000 to
2002, or do I need to just buy the new software? Thanks.

(I'm not very techno-savvy, so please keep responses
relatively simple. Thanks!)

If your PowerPoint is going to be work related and all folks have PowerPoint
2000, then you need to focus on 2000. However, to ensure you don't run into
any problems, you need to do this at home:

Open PowerPoint, click "Tools", "Options", click the "Edit" menu, then check
the bottom three things (disables them). This will prevent you from using a
new feature in 2002 (like new animations) and getting caught with your
"animations" down at work!

Other than the new features in 2002, the presentations will move back and
forth without any problems. No need to save backwards or forewords, etc.

It is always easier to open outdated presentations in the
newer software programs. Therefore, you can open your 2000
presentations easily in PPT 2002. I'm not sure about going
backward (the other way around), ...if you'll have
problems or not. Trial and error works. If you have 2002
at home, you're set, right? Your office should have bought
2000 and can upgrade you at min. expense. If you have your
own office, simply load 2002 software onto your office
computer. right? Also...don't bother with manuals. There
are free tutorials at www.microsoft.com that are just as
good. The wizards help too...PPT is simple even for
nontechno people!

hope this helps a little. JP
