You will need to reinstall the drivers for your sound card. Get them
from:

1. The card mftr.'s website; OR
2. The motherboard mftr.'s website if onboard sound; OR
3. The OEM's website for your specific machine if you have an OEM
computer (HP, Dell, Sony, etc.).

Read the installation instructions on the website where you get the
drivers.

If you do not know what sound card you have, use the free Everest Home
system inventory program to find out:

Intel 82801EB ICH5 - AC'97 Audio Controller [A-2/A-3] PCI is this my sound
car or motherboard or whatever? and how do i get the software for this?

www.Intel.com has all the software and drivers. Enter the
model of the motherboard in the search and it will show you
all the BIOS, graphics and audio drivers and has the
instructions for the download and installation.
If your mobo was not made by Intel, go to the actual maker's
site.
If you don't know the true maker of the mobo, get EVEREST
from www.lavalys.com and it will report that info and even
has links to the maker's updates.
