I've been in need of such a software for some time and finally found
it. It's open source and immensely cool. It's the best thing I found so
far for keeping track of an audio collection and making playlists. I
highly recommend it.

musikCube is much more than an "mp3 player", it is a music "library".
musikCube currently supports mp3, ogg, flac, and cd audio file formats.
It also features an integrated cd ripper helping you take control of
your music from the start. musikCube tries to stay as intuitive and
attractive as possible without degrading the performance of your
computer. We believe very strongly that your mp3 player should NOT exist
only to be eye candy, but be a functional, cohesive part of your
operating system. musikCube is the vanilla audio player for windows.

musikCube features include:
# very low memory footprint
# clean and intuitive user interface
# blazing fast navigation
# fully drag and drop compatible
# powerful batch tagging
# an integrated cross fader
# an integrated cd ripper

musikCube supports windows 2000 and windows xp.
We do NOT provide support for Windows 95, 98, or ME.

Had no problems on my machine, so far.
i have. the 'tag from filename' function doesn't work. i've defined a
simple filter of '$ARTIST - $TITLE' and the tags in question remain
blank. i've already submitted this query to their forums.

does anyone know how to get this function to apply correctly? there is
no documentation or help file and this program is pretty useless
without this functionality. what is it? crippleware like that funky
mediamonkey dumpsterware?...

If it looks like a duck and smells like a duck it is most likely a duck. And
this software looks and smells pretty unfinished to me. It may be great when
all functionality is in place and the bugs are ironed out.

i got a response to my query in their forums saying that the tag from
filename functionality was broken in a previous version but will be
fixed in the next one.
