My new PC with an Intel motherboard supports hyperthreading. However,
with hyperthreading enabled, the machine locks-up after a day or so
(mouse & keyboard unresponsive). With hyperthreading disabled, the
machine runs fine.

Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this? There are no entries in
the event log nor a BSOD; just an unresponsive machine that needs a hard
reset.

TIA!

??? Does XP Home edition support HT ??? It does NOT support multiple
CPUs, doesn't HT "look" like multiple CPUs to the OS? Just wondering....

As for your specific problem, I would check if the motherboard
manufacturer has a BIOS update.

As for your specific problem, I would check if the motherboard
manufacturer has a BIOS update.
I'm running XP Pro and it does support hyperthreading. The motherboard
is an Intel, and it's got the latest BIOS upgrade applied, which is only
a few days old.

I'm running the same software I ran on my previous computer, an Intel
mobo with a 800MHz PIII. It never had this problem, and so far, with
hyperthreading disabled in the BIOS, this machine is running fine.

Go figure.
