Hypertext links

All of a sudden Hypertext links are not active in any MS application -
Messenger, Word, PowerPoint etc. It matters not whether I enter them, or
receive them from a second party. In a Word document, for example, they do
not appear as blue and underscored. This is a new thing. I am running XP
Pro, installed SP2 months ago. Also- I am running Outlook 2000 - not OE.

I have also manually run the .dll s referenced on several sites. Nothing
works. IE is the default browser, and the box under Internet
Properties/Programs/ is checked.

Any ideas?

Try the IE repair tool?
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=194177

This will re-register a lot of system libraries.

From MS Word HELP:

To turn on automatic hyperlinks, follow these steps:
a. On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect Options.
b. On the AutoFormat as you type tab (and on the AutoFormat), click to
select the Internet and network paths with hyperlinks check box.
c. Click OK.

Hi David,

Go to Start/Run and type in: regsvr32 urlmon.dll. Then go to:
IE/Tools/Internet

Options/Programs/Reset Web Settings.

Hyperlinks not opening:

Go to Start/Run and type in: regsvr32 actxprxy.dll and then repeat the
process for regsvr32

shdocvw.dll. More info below.

Check your settings here:

Windows Explorer/Tools/Folder Options/File Types. Scroll down to
URL:HyperText Transfer

Protocol/Advanced/Edit.

Under Application used to perform action it should read:
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -nohome

The "Open in a New Window" Command May Not Work. Go to Start/Run and type
each of these in:

regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 Shell32.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
regsvr32 Urlmon.dll
regsvr32 smjava.dll
regsvr32 browesui.dll
