Help. Hyperterminal will not maintain its configuration. I need 7 bits, even
parity to connect to work. I have been able to connect for the last yr via
hyperterminal.Now, all of a sudden, it will not keep the configuration. I
have deleted, then reinstalled, but still not working. What can I do?

Hyperterminal is third-party software that MS has licensed to include
with its operating systems. I don't know why Hyperterminal has stopped
working for you, but you might want to get the program directly from
the company and try that one.

Otherwise, what changed between the time things worked and the time they
didn't?
