Hyperterminal Terminal Keys

I am using Hyperterminal in XP for connect using TCP/IP
(winsock). I have it configured for VT100 Emulation per
the company we are connecting to. The instructions on the
screen say to press <F1> <F3> to exit to the main menu,
but they don't do anything. Does anyone know of any fixes
for this problem?
