Hyperlinks

I have completed a document that I would like to share with a few other offices & I have included hyperlinks in this document to another document that all these offices have. Unfortunately this other document that is common to the other offices, may be stored in a folder under a different name. Therefore, when I send this document to the other offices, the hyperlinks won't work.

Is there a way to "absolute" the file name, and it will change the folder names to where ever the file is located. I sure would appreciate any help.

Nope. This is equivalent to asking for a map that shows the nearest Hilton
hotel without knowing what city it will be used in. If you know in advance
the configuration of all of the systems you could, in theory, put together a
macrobutton field that would do what you want.

You can make the hyperlink relative, especially if your document is stored
in the same folder as the linked documents.

I imagine that someone in the vba newsgroups could construct a macro for a
macrobutton that would open the linked document if found and would open a
dialog box allowing the user to find it if the doc wasn't found. It might
even rewrite the link so that the next time it would work without the dialog
box. It's a lot of work, though, to work around poor file organization.
