Anyone please advise- When I insert into my original text
in Word 2002 a hyperlink referring to another file it
changes my original text in the document to the hyperlink
address. For instance, if I insert a hyperlink onto the
text "Go To Document" instead of getting "Go To Document"
underlined it changes that text to something that
resembles the following - {HYPERLINKGO%20TO%20Document%
20}. Why?

I'm not sure why the text would change, unless perhaps you did not
select/highlight the entire phrase before choosing Insert->Hyperlink
(or Ctrl+K). What was showing in the "Text to display" box before you
entered path to the file name (using the Browse for "File..." button)?
What was showing after?!

In any event, your link should read something along the lines of:

{ HYPERLINK "C:\\Documents and Settings\\Owner\\My Documents\\Document
Name.doc.xls" }
