Hyperlinks

I created a database for my son's business in 2003 and it has worked a treat.
Recently my PC blew up and has been replaced. Our network has a back-up
storage system so there was no disruption to other users or to the database.
However, since then, I am now unable to complete paths for my hyperlinks.
Existing links work OK but not new ones.
When attemting to link from a cell on one table to another table or query, I
can only link to the complete database.
Any suggestions will be most welcome, solutions will be much better.

Your post seemed to conflict with itself and that may be an indicator of the
issue. Specifically, what you mean by "hyperlink"

The common use of the term in Access (e.g. a hyperlink field) is to link to
something that is not in Access.

"links" to Access objects are via linking table, queries, paths in
properties, Access external table linking etc.

Either way I think that you are going to nee to be more specific regarding
the attempted linking in order for someone to help.

Hope that helps a little

In Design view, the column Data Type is "Hyperlink". In Datasheet view, right
click, select Hyperlink then select Edit Hyperlink and then choose the path
to the Table or Query (or Word, Excel etc). I am only now able to select "a"
database instead of following through to a specific table/query.
I have been using hyperlinks to specific tables or queries (as shortcuts)
for six years so this present issue is very strange as far as I am concerned.
Thanks for your interest.

Sorry that I can't help. I've not done that nor ever heard of it being done.
(to be hones, I can't imagine a need for or benefit of that)

One Order number every month involves attending 100 sites, each time. Another
table with 100 rows (sites) has 3 columns for each month for recording
worksheet ref, date and and engineer. All worksheets for that month have the
same order number. When ALL sites have been attended the order can be
invoiced. It's easy to check without leaving the Order table.
I guess that not everyone works in exactly the same way. This system evolved
as the result of circumstances. Just recently the circumstances have changed
where the same order is now split between 2 customers ie., 2 separate orders
but for the same result as before. The "hyperlink" has worked admirably
linking these 2 orders to the one table. I thought that it was a good system,
maybe I am wrong?
Thank you for your comments.

Just noticed, today, that I can set-up my hyperlinks on a coleagues PC so I
am not going mad. I will have to resort to that way in future.
