Hyperlinks

I added charts to a workbook a group of us share in a stock study group. The
originator uses Excel 2003 or 4 on an XP system. I'm using Excel 2000
Professional on an XP system.

After adding a few charts and an Index page that I hoped to hyperlink to
various points throughout the book, I discovered that the only spreadsheets
that appeared in the hyperlink window when I attempted to create the links
were the original worksheets. I couldn't find a way to get my charts listed
in that organization tree or outline in the window no matter what I did.

I then pulled up a similar workbook I created in total under Excel 2000 and
looked at it's structure. Everything works... everything is listed. I then
looked at the FILE/PROPERTIES and found everything listed as a worksheet.
Shooting in the dark, I went back to the other workbook and did the same.
Low and behold, all the charts I made were, in fact, listed in their own
section right under "Charts" and the Chart section was listed directly under
the Worksheet section. However, if I attempt to make a hyperlink in that
book, the hyperlink window doesn't show that Chart section to permit me to
complete the link.

Is there something unique about Excel 2003/4 that prevents me from using it
to make a simple hyperlink... outside of my ignorance?

There's no difference in hyperlinking between Excel 97/2000 and Excel
XP+. You can't hyperlink to a chart sheet. You can fake it with macros:

Sounds like the "good" charts are actually worksheets with embedded
chart objects. The hyperlinks are to a cell or range of cells under the
chart.

Thanks Jon. Your link ... and lots of prior conversations led me to the
Charts/Locations area. By "moving" the chart to a new worksheet that
appeared in the list of tabs available to link to, I was able to get the job
done. Thanks for your help.
