I have a store file in Access 97 and I was wondering if
there was a way that I could use that I could use a field
to start an email with outlook express without having to
type "mailto:" before each field. right now when i use
the hyperlink, it opens internet explorer

thanks

Are you referring to a database table field with a hyperlink datatype? If
so, do these fields have standard Email addresses in them? My understanding
is that you want to be able to click them and send a new email. Is it the
display of the field that you're worried about or editing the hyperlinks and
adding "Mailto:" in front of all of them?

I too am wondering how to make an email
address "clickable" within a form so that it brings up
Outlook and inserts the address in the "To" box. I have
a contact table and form with email address and I want
the user to be able to search contacts and double click
on the email address to send a message. If the user
manually types "mailto:" in front of the address, it
works fine, but I don't want them to have to do this. I
did manage to get Access to add "mailto:" onto the front
of the email address when the user saves the record(using
a macro)...and it looks right in the text box
(mailto:[email protected]), and it is even underlined and
blue like a link, but it doesn't work. When I copy and
past the contents of the text box into and HTML editor, I
see why it doesn't work....Access adds a bunch of crap to
the link. Any ideas on another way to make Access do
this (what I THOUGHT) very basic simple task? Thanks!
