I have a cd which contains 300 slides - at the end I have 2 slides
which contain approx. 40 hyperlinks in total - (text links to the
slides).

Problem: Sometimes the links seem to work fine - and like now - none
of them work!!

I have rebooted the PC (loads of memory/top spec) and no change.

Is there a known problem with too many links or something else?

any help much appreciated.

thanks

Jeff

Ok - so I can split the presentation in 6 smaller presentations which
takes care of the limitation with the number of links - BUT ...

how can I jump to a specific slide within a powerpoint file rather
than open on the first slide of the presentation

So for example I have 6 presentations on one cd - all with a contents
slide - someone clicks on a link which is in a external presentation
on the cd but the slide they want is on-slide 11 for example.

Can I link it so they go directly to slide 11.

regards

Jeff

It doesn't sound to me like you have too many links. I use
many more than 40 in my linked presentations without much problem,
though most of mine are external links.

I'd try using action buttons with the text on the button. Select the
button, then right click the mouse and use action settings. Before I started
with this method I had all sorts
of problems whenever I wanted to edit a link.

If you link to "other powerpoint presentation" this way, you can select the
slide number you want to link to, but I've never found this to work
consistently, maybe
because of changes I make in the files, or maybe because of the memory limit
allocated to links.

Hope this helps.

Jeff,
When you are looking at the Hyperlink dialog, once you select the other file
option, you will see a bookmark button appear. Click that button and it will
show you the various slide names in that file. Click the one you want and
the hyperlink will be adapted to include that slide's name.

Try it and post back to let us know if this gets you where you need to
be....
