hyperlinks not working?

Hello
i am currently using my powerpoint presentation as an information resource.
the way in which i have constructed this is by using hyperlinks to various
other pages with this document, so it becomes a kind of mini website.

This is actually working very well, i have built up this database to some
700 odd pages now with 100s of hyperlinks all working great. However,
recently i have added a hyperlink, as i do regularly, today. when i saved
this document the link is saved but not the destination... just "slide 1" is
the destination saved... this is not only doing this for new hyperlinks but
now for any hyperlink i amend!?!?!?

am i doing something stupid??? is there a known limitation to powerpoint? i
have tried all current versions of powerpoint!?!? or has this problem never
arisen before as noone has ever used powerpoint in this way?

please can anyone submit any information they have of what has happened as
several months work taken to create this document seems to have been wasted?

Yes, there is a known limitation. Each PowerPoint presentation has
limited space to store hyperlink information. You have probably reached
the limit. You might try breaking up the presentation into several
smaller presentations. You can hyperlink across presentations.
