Hyperlinks in reports

Using Access XP in a P2P network on WinXP PC's. Experience level: beginner

I have a database of scanned news articles, searchable by name, date,
publisher, and keyword (that I assigned). The scanned items are in PDF
format, so I put them in a directory in my Shared Docs folder and then
hyperlinked them from the data entry form; changing the default from http://
[etc] to \\Mike's Docs\etc.

I'm ready to publish the DB to the rest of the staff but am hesitant because
there's no easy way for them to create a report and click the hyperlink to
open the file. When I publish the report in Word, the RTF file shows the
hyperlink as file:///c:\ etc. and won't work when I click on it. The work
around I have is to create a report in Access and then open the Search form
I built and ALT-TAB between the two to find what they want and then open it.
Tedious and I'm sure the wrong way this can be done.

What am I missing?

TIA,

Use an ASP page on a web server to link to the pdf files or use win2pdf to
create a pdf from the report, it takes anything that looks like a hyperlink
and makes it into an actual hyperlink in the pdf.

Can't do the former as I don't have the skills, nor do we have an intranet.
I'll look into the latter option. Thanks!

Mike
