Hi,
Perhaps someone has the expertise to help me.
Hyperlinks in Office XP documents will no longer trigger OE6 to start
up. To get a hyperlink to work, I now need to first open IE6. The
error message is: "Unable to open http://www.------, Cannot locate the
internet server or proxy server"
This anomaly became evident after uninstalling Norton Internet
Security 2002 and installing the 2003 version. It appears to be an
issue only with Office programs; hyperlinks in other programs operate
normally (IE6 opens, dials up my connection, then finds the
appropriate web page).
Deactivation of NAV and NIS does not help. I've also followed the
advice offered in various threads to no avail.
I.e.,
Run regsvr32 actxprxy.dll; regsvr32 shdocvw.dll; and REGSVR32
URLMON.DLL followed by a reboot, then resetting the WEB settings.
and
Windows Explorer/Tools/Folder Options/File Types.
Scroll down to URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol/Advanced/Edit.
Under Application used to perform action it should read:
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -nohome
Incidentally, I have the same issue with Symantec's "Live Update".
With the 2002 version, LD would initiate a connection. With 2003, I
need to make the connection first. Symantec's advice does nothing to
solve the problem.
Any ideas?
