hyperlinks and pdfs

I'd like to enable a user to find a file and link it in a text field so that
for each record it has a link to a unique document that the user sets. For
example, each press release we send out, we want to attach a link to it so we
can refer to it.

I have a hyperlink text field and a button to find the file. That works
fine, but it only works for Office docs. It won't see All Files. Most of our
press releases are in pdf form. Can anyone help?

Mike,

Do you have your Adobe Reader or whatever, set up in windows as the
default application to open a pdf file? What method is being used to
open the files. If you enter the data into the hyperlink field with the
file protocol indicator, all you need to do is click on the hyperlink to
open the file. For example...
File:\\C:\YourFolder\YourPressRelease.pdf

Thanks, Steve. I have Adobe full version. But what I'm saying is that when I
click on the button to find a file, the dialogue box only looks for Office
docs and won't let me see any other files to choose from. Even when I select
All Files from Files of Type, it doesn't see anything else. Does that make
more sense to you?
