hyperlinked pictures and word art mess up the page

On my pages I can hyperlink any words with no problems, but whenever I try to
hyperlink a picture or word art it moves everything around and messes up the
whole page. How can I fix this?
 
I was told not to use word art by one of the MVPs I did have word art on my
page before, and I had to screw around with it for the longest time until i
had to mount the word art in a random spot on the site itself. i don't know
abou the hyperlinks though
