I want to hyperlink to pdf files located in the same directory as my
presentation. Rather than state a full DOS path, I want to use the pdf file
name only (to allow other to use the presentation in a directory of their
choice). The problem seems to be that WinXP remembers a directory from some
previous activity on the PC (eg c:\windows\system) and then when PP tries to
hyperlink it looks in that directory only to try and find the file. If I
open up the correct directory from the hyperlink action settings window, from
that point on my pdf's open OK. Have tried setting the hyperlink base but
without success (probably an "operator" problem).

How can I set the hyperlink location to be always relative (in the same
directory) as the presentation?

That's because a pathless link actually points to the file in the current
operating system directory, which might be anything.

If you open the file by doubleclicking its icon or using File, Open and browsing
to/opening the file, the link should work.
