I just discovered this group so I hope my question is one of those that have
been asked many times before.
I open a Word doc.(Word 2002) that has a hyperlink to a webpage and when I
click on the link I get a box that says "To follow this link click ctrl +
click. I do this and get an error saying" Cannot connect to proxy or
server" I am on cable and always connected. How do I enable Word to go to
the link? I hope this is not a "Dumb" question as I have only used word to
write letters and paste info I get from the web.

Thank you,
Ken A

Hi Ken

First, check the link. If necessary, click in the link and do Edit >
Hyperlink to find out where the link is pointing to. Copy the link and use,
say, Internet Explorer. Can you get to the site that way? If not, then
perhaps the link is referring to a server to which you don't have access.
For example, if you had a document at work, which had a link to another
document on the server at work, then you might not be able to access it from
home.

Alternatively, are you using any kind of firewall (such as Zone Alarm?).
Perhaps you need to tell the Firewall to allow Word to access the internet.

Hope this helps.

Thank you Shauna Kelly
I followed your advice and configured ZoneAlarm to let Word access the
internet. My links in Word now all work.

Thank you again,
Ken A.
