This is how I achieve a hyperlink with no underline.
1 Draw a rectangle
2 Right click...assign the action settings > hyperlink > OK
3 Then Press F2 to edit the autoshape...type in text
4 Result ....no underline

Cheers,
but even then Powerpoint underlines the selected word.
Thanks,
Markus
Markus,
Have you tried using "action settings"?
Right click anything...choose "action settings", on click, hyperlink to:
http://www.yahoo.com
I find it's best to add the action setting to an autoshape....then add the text in the autoshape by pressing F2 later. Then no underline is visible

Hi Michael,
thank you very much for your help! Unfortunately I cannot use the solution provided, I have to come up with a manual for a big bank explaining the normal user how to insert links into Powerpoint 97 and if 4000 people try to manage their invsible buttons, that would cause some havoc
I am searching since 2 days for a solution, even bought a Poweropint Book by MS Press and cvould not find a solution, i am close to study VB maybe there is something to do against the underline
Cheers,
Markus
You might find an alternate here that is more to your liking.

Hi,
everytime I create a Hyperlink in Powerpoint it is underlined, I can turn it
off by creating a text box for each link i create. But I need to find a way
to turn it off for normal text without creating a text box. Can you help me?
Any help is greatly appreciated,
Cheers,
Markus
