Hyperlink troubles

I'm using Powerpoint 2000. I copy pictures from the
internet into slides. When I open a presentation, my
computer opens my dial-up account to connect to the
internet. I review and delete any hyperlinks that may be
on the picture. Save, re-boot, open presnetation, same
problem.

Another variation of the problem - open the presentation.
As I'm going through the slides, I come up to a slide with
picture that opens up my dial-up account to connect with
the internet.

I've found that saving pictures from the internet to hy
HD, then using Powerpoint insert picture command works.
But it sure would be easy to copy and paste from the
internet without having hyperlinks tag along.

Any help would be appreciated

Unfortunately "reliable" and "fast" don't go together here. :-)

Try Edit > Links. Select any links and click Break Links. I'm not sure that
will work, but it's easy enough to try.

That's the way to go.

Hi Tim,

Just a thought, but you might want to check File,
Properties and make sure the Hyperlink base box is empty
on the presentations that you've deleted all the
hyperlinks.

For me, I always right click on the pictures in the
browser and select Save Picture As, then insert it in the
presentation. It gives me more control over the pictures
(because I edit them to be the same resolution and I save
them all as the same file type, such as JPG). I also can
use them for later presentations.

Hi Tim,

another advantage, if you use "Save as" and "Insert from file" instead of
Copy/Paste: The resulting PowerPoint file will be much smaller - and that's
worth the effort, too! You'll blow up your file extremely when pasting in
pictures.

Kind regards,
Ute
