Hyperlink-Target frames ??

We have something strange happening with Hyperlink Target Frames. When
setting up web pages long ago ALL our hyperlinks were going to the same
page. That is you would click a hyperlink on the current page and the
"linked-to" web page would replace the current web page.

Later we learned you could make other settings. But for the most part we did
not need to use other settings. Sometimes we would want to spawn an entirely
new window, so we occasionally used the "_blank".

Last month we began using FrontPage to 'publish' our web site (previously we
FTP'd the web pages to the Unix server.) Many (but not all) of the web pages
now have 'main' in the Target Frames listing AND for some reason web pages
now seem to be spawning a new window.

FrontPage has 5 options listed in the Hyperlink Target Frames:

1.. Page Default (none)
2.. Same Frame (_self)
3.. Whole Page (_top)
4.. New Window (_blank)
5.. Parent Frame (_parent)

Where does "main" come from? What does "main" mean?

One last comment: last month we began experimenting with CSS. Could this
have anything to do with how hyperlink target frames function?

Thanks, Cecil:)

FP will add a base target...

If you enable "Set as Page Default" under hyperlink properties

If you create a frameset

I would say that at one time you had a frameset, and the main content frame
was called "Main".
