I inserted a hyperlink to another document in my harddisk eg.
C:\Temp\mydoc.doc.

However, I will distribute this word document with this C:\Temp\mydoc.doc to
my client. What would happen if the client put my document and this
C:\Temp\mydoc.doc into another folder ?
How do I specify a relative path ?

Edit the hyperlink to remove the path. ie the Hyperlink is to mydoc.doc.
As long as both the calling document and mydoc.doc are in the same folder
the hyperlink should access it.

PS What is happening at Man Utd? Ferguson has lost the plot :(

You can get some control over hyperlinks by entering a base directory under
File | Properties.

However, I don't think that helps much in the scenario you describe. It
probably WOULD work if your user is on the same network and you could
reference "mydoc.doc" on a central server to which your user has access.

I tried editing a hyperlink but removing the drive and path designation
didn't work. Nor did trying the old DOS trick "..\mydoc.doc".

You COULD try distributing your file set in a self-extracting Winzip
archive. Winzip allows you to archive your documents and retain the path
they are on on YOUR drive. When the files are unzipped or extracted, Winzip
sends them to the same location on the user's disk if he or she already has
such a directory structure. Otherwise it recreates your path on the user's
drive and you should thereby be able to avoid giving the user the option of
saving the docs in the wrong location.

Yes?
