hyperlink problems

I can't open a hyperlink from email. Have searched for
resolution but so far everything I've tried hasn't
worked. Also unable to create a shortcut from a web
page. Seems like these are related. Any ideas?
 
It seems your registry key HKEY_CLASSES is corrupt. Try
editing the following keys so they appear similar as I
appended here (to do so just copy it to a .reg file -
DON`T FORGET TO BACKUP YOUR .URL AND INTERNETSHORTCUT
