Hyperlink Problems

I'm having a problem with one set of hyperlinks on a web site I've moved to
a server with frontpage extensions using FP2002. The URL is:
http://www.gt500.org.uk/manual.htm

These links work ok before I upload the page. I thought it might be a
upper/lower case problem, but that doesn't seem to be it. I also changed all
the file names to 8 characters or less, but that's not it either. All the
other links on the site work OK.

Looking forward to being embarrassed by a simple explanation!

Hi Jim,

I notice the links like http://www.gt500.org.uk/manual/carbdesc.htm are
pointing to a \manual folder that's supposedly under your root Web folder.
One option is that the pages are a the root level so the link should be
http://www.gt500.org.uk/carbdesc.htm but the page isn't there in your
website. I checked, so that's not it.

If links work before uploading, the folder name is not misspelled. Another
possibility is that the folder is just not there. Can you check if it is by
using FTP or the Web host's File Manager? Perhaps the folder is a subweb
and you did not check the option for publishing subwebs along with your
"main" Web.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for taking the time to have a look. The /manual folder (and its
contents) is there OK. There are no subwebs, but I checked the box in
'Publish Web' for this just in case, but it didn't solve the problem.

The confusing thing for me is that the site worked OK before I used
Frontpage, and before I transferred it to a FP enabled server.

You are on a Unix server (many are case sensitive) and http://www.gt500.org.uk/manual/ does not get me a folder on your site
Did you select Publish All

I tried moving everything to a different folder, and it all works OK now.
There must have been something wrong with the original folder - one of
life's mysteries.
Thanks for looking
