Hyperlink format?

I have hyperlinks in a column of my Excel 2000 spreadsheet to specific
Windows XP folders. Like:
C:\Docs
K:\XYZ\ABC
etc

But clicking one of these always opens the folder in the 'two-pane Explorer'
mode, instead of the 'single-pane My Computer' mode that I prefer.

Other programs I use that support links don't behave like that. They all open
single pane folders. Is there some way I can get Excel to do the same please?

No one with any thoughts on this please?

It happens with Word too so I'm wondering if it's an Office exclusive?

As mentioned, other apps open such links in a single pane. Also, my text
editor, TextPad, does so too, from this local link:
file://C:/Docs/SUNDRY

I'm sure there must be some hack that can get Excel to do so!
