Hyperlink dropdown list entries

I want to hyperlink each entry in a dropdown list to an entry in a text file
in my web.
The list is a States (USA) list and the text file is statiscal data on each
State.
I would want the results to display on the same page.

What is the least complicated manner to bring this about?
And if, in your opinion, there is a better way to accomplish my intent,
I'd appreciate it. Thank you.
