I have a Pentium 4 Processor 3.06Ghz with HT, whenever i
turn HT on and i try to play music it skips. When i have
HT switched off i am able to have my music playing in the
background while using other programs. Isn't HT ment to
make multi-tasking better?

Also i have noticed that with HT off my CPU temp. is
around the 50 degrees mark, but when i turn HT on the
temp. lowers to 36-40 degrees (temp. as shown in MBM5)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Visit the support website of the manufacturer of your motherboard
and search for a BIOS update. This is not a Windows XP related issue.

The temperature difference is probably because your programs do not
take full advantage of the HT technology and are only using one of the
two processors. End result is that you are not working the processor
chip to full capacity and it is running cooler.

And while it appears that HT is causing your music to skip, I'd look
elsewhere. WMP 9 uses less than 5% of both of my HT processors
according to both Norton System Doctor and MBM 5. I'd look at your
disk access parameters and what you are doing in the foreground.
