Does win 2000 support hyper threading? Is windows XP the
only windows version that does?

It does. Sort of. Win2K cannot distinguish between physical
and logical processors, but it will still see and use the second CPU.
If you have a dual HT CPU system and want to use all 4 logical
processors you'll need Win2K Server, Adv. Server, Datacenter,
WinXP Pro or Win2003.

Only the Xeon supports multiple processors. Supermicro makes some nice
boards.

Dear Anal Expulsive,

The point is that Intel does not recommend that you turn on Hyperthreading if your OS is Windows 2000.

HT benchmarks I've seen for multi-processor aware apps under
Win2K and WinXP (e.g. Photoshop) have been comparable. If
you have such apps there's no reason not to enable it.

Sounds good if you are running Photoshop, but I would not put too much stock in a benchmark scores. Turn on HT in your BIOS if it makes you feel that your applicatications seem to run faster.

Zippy asked:
Who makes a Dual HT motherboard?

I responded:
Only the Xeon supports multiple processors.

Querty trimmed the entire thread so it was impossible to determine what or
to whom he/she was responding and posted some link to a web page describing
Operating Systems that include optimizations for HTT. That response made
absolutely no sense when interjected into a conversation about motherboards.

Querty needs to quit wearing his/her sphincter as a headband.
