Does Win2k-pro W/SP4 support HT mode......does it recognize
HT CPU........I'm not shure if it does?? Thanks for any
feedback.

Yes it does, with one limitation. Win2K cannot distinguish between
physical and logical processors. If you have a single HT CPU system
it's not a problem, but if you have a dual HT system Win2K will
only see 2 of the 4 processors.

No it doesn't. Windows XP, Server2003 and some Linux distros support HT.

It will think that the system has two CPU. Not what you want. You can
disable HT from the BIOS and continue to use Win2k.

Yes it does, although Win2K cannot distinguish between physical
and logical CPUs.

Each of the two logical CPUs has its own command queue.
Whether Win2K treats the second CPU as physical or logical
won't make a discernable difference in performance, and in
some cases a single HT-enabled Win2K system outperforms
a single HT-enabled WinXP system. E.g.

If none of your apps are HT-aware then yes, you should
disable HT. Otherwise, there's no reason to disable it.

And that exactly means that it does not support HT. HT is a technology that
depends on the optimizations the OS includes. Win2k does not support HT.

Nice link but that one is better :

If i were the OP i would make performance tests with it enabled and
disabled. If it makes a difference and no stability (or any important)
problem was observed i'd continue to use it with HT enabled. But it would be
easier to get XP or just disabling it.
