hvid.exe has encountered a problem

When I boot-up a window appears stating "hvid.exe has encountered a problem
and needs to close..."

The "data" window includes:
AppName: hvid.exe
AppVer: 3.0.0.3
ModName:msvcrt.dll
ModVer:7.0.2600.1106
Offset: 0003213b

Any help would be much appreciated.

unfortunately you have a trojan virus on your computer.

If you don't have a virus scan use this site to get rid of the virus.
http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/default.asp?langid=ie&venid=sym , then
click go, then use the virus check.
