My fellow die hards. As much as I hate eating crow (pc
for eating sh__), I must, for the good of those who may
be struggling with the same problem. Many posts here
resemble my issues.
For the past two weeks, my network running os XP Pro host
and client, and ME laptop client have not been working
properly. Wireless and hardwired interfaces (see my post
on 12/9 for details). "Network Places Not Responding"
and HOST PC hang are the immediate symptoms. HOST was
the only machine that could not communicate to the XP
client.
XP host and client running NIS 2004 Pro configured to
recognize the DHCP IP addresses by hard coding.
As such, I did not think NIS was the problem since it
continued after disabling the program on both machines
and it continued after deinstalling the program on the
HOST. I finally deinstalled NIS on the Client (left
installed on Host, however), and the problem was
eliminated. <--eating Crow at this point!!!
NIS 2004 Pro appears to also cause havock with system
create/restore. All my restore points during this
process have been corrupt.
NOW, can anyone help me resolve my NIS 2004 Pro
configuration problem?
Stay tuned for next weeks edition of Eating Crow or As
the Stomach turns!
