Having a problem with my display in Vista. Every so often, vibrating yellow
lines about 1/2 to 1 inch wide will appear on my display for seconds,
minutes, or even hours. The problem has been occuring more and more
frequently. I never have this problem when running under Linux, so I think
the hardware is fine. I also never had this problem under XP.

I have a Dell Dimension desktop, P4, 2.8GHz, 1GB ram, ATI Radion 9800 card
with a dell monitor. I have had the same problem using the Microsoft
Drivers OR the ATI Catalyst drivers for Vista.

If I can't find a way to fix this, I'm going to have to blow away Vista and
reinstall XP.

Any thoughts?

Alvin,

Searching submitted bug reports, I can't find anyone else with this problem.
I've installed Vista on a machine with a 9800 with no apparent ill effects.
What kind of monitor? Make/model prefered.

Dell monitor. The model number sticker on the back says E171FPD.

I'm running the ATI Radion 9800 card on Asus PC4800-E Deluxe
and it works fine wit Vista-5744.
I'd check monitor with other OS running ( If possible) and would
check the refresh set up of monitor (my is LCD set at 70Mhz)

Try to swap the memory sticks if there is more that one.
Check also Power Supp. connections.

Alvin,

Try the manufacturer's drivers (INF in this case) for your LCD:
