When I go to certain websites that are link from msn, IE
try to open the page and at the bottom on the status bar
it says "proxy detected" and then "connecting to
127.0.0.1" and then the address bar show up trying to
connect to "http:///" and then could not open the page.

I have cable modem connection and have set "automatically
detect settings" under LAN settings for IE6. My machine is
connect through a router also and I have upgrade all the
latest patch.

Any know what happen? Do I have a worm or virus? It just
happen one day and I don't think I have install any new
software to cause this to happen.

Thanks

Check for a file named HOSTS with no extension (not Hosts.sam). It may be a
hidden file. Open it with Notepad and remove any line referencing the site.
Or, rename HOSTS to OLDHOSTS
