Hello,

My ie6.02 requires me to type in "http://www", instead of
it being defaulted.
I found a reference in the KB indicating that if a
nonstandared port was utilized ex "abc.com:180" then
the "http://www" would be required.
I'm not sure where the default port is set, or might be
changed.
I've made many attempts at resolution:
Cleared all cookies, files, pluins, etc.
Reinstalled IE.
Reinstalled Network component.
Looked to see if I could reinstall TCP/IP.

Please help... Thanks

AutoCorrect feature can correct common errors. For example, if you
accidentally type "htp://" or "http:\\" instead of "http://," Internet
Explorer 5 and 6 can automatically correct the error as soon as you click Go
or press ENTER.
To turn on the inline AutoComplete feature for Web addresses, follow these
steps in Internet Explorer:

1.. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
2.. Click the Advanced tab.
3.. Under Browsing, click the Use inline AutoComplete for Web addresses
check box, and then click OK.

If this does not help, open Registry (regedit.exe) and goto the following
key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersi
on\URL\DefaultPrefix

In the right-pane, set the data for the value "default" to "http://"

Ramesh, God bless you.
That was fantastic!!
The registry entry was the problem.
Some website had attacked my computer and made these
changes. I think.

Thanks a million,
Rajaie
