Does anyone know if this will be added later? It seems so odd that it's in
the option list not not able to be used unless hotmail/msn/live plans to
move to POP3.

there are several 3rd party programs that interface with WM to do this.
HotPop for hotmail
Ypop for yahoo
Gpop for gmail
and
traypop for all 3.

NO! It's crap!

I know chinese websites like lots of moving things on them, but HTML posts
on usenet are just annoying.

You could move to Windows Live Mail Desktop if you don't mind the crappy
interface and teh adverts. I prefered to move to full Outlook, and I should
have done this years ago, as I have a lot of email accounts. Another option
you might want to consider is Thunderbird, which now has some HTTP email
addons.

I use FrontPageExpress, created as HTML and using settings for html in OE/WM options Signature.

Using HTML in a newsgroup also gives away the fact that you're a newbie :-)

You must have turned it on, since it's off by default thus complying with
Usenet conventions. Why don't you go back there now and turn it off.

I can't wait until this "Usenet convention" is gone. It's the 21st century
now. There's no need to adhere to 1970's concepts.

You need to think it through a bit then. The Internet is already pretty
congested - the impact of doubling the volume of Usenet posts would make
it even worse.

my standard response.

as soon as I receive your certified check paying for my system I will be more then happy to run it according to your ideas.

It is nothing to do with your system or my ideas, it's established Usenet
practice.

Most people who decide to join a club or organisation have the
intelligence and courtesy to follow the conventions of the club. I don't
know you so I am unable to tell which of those attributes you are missing,
perhaps it's both?

it is you who is wrong, html has always been welcome in the ms news groups.

if you wish to still use a teletype, then please do.

otherwise get with the program and update to more modern ideas.

What does this have to do with my question?

While I don't use HTML for posts, this topic and top vs bottom
posting are old debates that should just die. Most of this
"established Usenet practice" was cooked up "back in the day",
and really has nothing to do with the reality of the internet today.
Besides, any decent newsreader will allow you to read mail or
newsgroup posts in plain text only- so, you never see the HTML.
Of course, a user can always block/kill-file a poster that doesn't
meet their standards. Instead of trying to change others' posting
habits, control your own viewing experience. Also, if folks are
so dang concerned with the size of the post, then I think they
should chastise users who reply to a enormously long threaded
post and don't bother to cut any of it out- that's obnoxious.

In all the years I've been participating in newsgroups, these ignorant
arguments *always* come up. Give it a rest already.

That's a load of crap. 99% of internet users are ignorant of newsgroups.

It won't be long before many ISP's stop offering Usenet access.

Agreed.

Agreed.

This and the top vs. bottom posting "debate" are so
nauseatingly irrelevant, old and useless.

Mikey, I've seen you around for years- going back to
the Netscape 6 Preview 1 days (what a horrible product that was).
I love that Jay Garcia, he's a real Netscape fanatic.
You even frequent "The Table", most every place you post
someone has something to say about your sig.

Keep it up.

Take care,

Michael
