In Vista, with IE7, is it possible to make my Hotmail web account as the
default email "program?" Currently it is Windows Mail, but I think I saw
where it's possible to make Hotmail the default. If so, I can't figure it
out -- in IE7, I go to Tools/Internet Options/Programs and then what! Help!
Thanks.

You cannot configure Windows Mail to use a Web-based
e-mail account in Windows Vista:

Maybe I should have been more clear. WHEN CLICKING on an email address link
in IE7, the default email client loads to enable the email process. In my
case, it's Windows Mail. I wish to change that to HTTP Hotmail.

Note that in your reply, you misunderstood that I wish to configure Windows
Mail to access Hotmail. That is not the case. I simply wish to make HTTP
Hotmail as my default email process when clicking on an email LINK. Maybe
it can't be done, but I thought I read that it can.

Hope that clears things up, and thanks for the reply.

You are talking about clicking on a mailto link on a web page.
As far as I know, a mailto link can only be handled by a real mail program;
there is no mechanism for it to call up a webmail URL.

One workaround would be to upgrade to Windows Live Mail since it
can handle Hotmail accounts.
