When i try to open a pdf file on the web i instantaneously get this message.
I can open a pdf file on my hard drive using acrobat 6.0 but when I try
opening one from a link on a webpage - this error message appears. On my
other computer I can open them just fine.

Thanks for any advice,

I found a few files called HOSTS or a variation:
HOSTS in C:\I386 1kb
HOSTS in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVER

Would either of these be what you were referring to - i don't want to rename
the wrong and make things worse. thanks for your help and time! Bill

The copy of HOSTS depends on your Windows version. For WinXP it's in
C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc

would you concur that nenaming HOSTS to HOSTS.old could be a solution. What
could be the potential harm in doing that? Thanks for your time!
