HTML Help Files Don't Work On Network Drives

Apologies for the cross-post, but I can't find a suitable group so I picked
the most likely groups for people who might have come across this.

I've created an HTML help (compiled help, .CHM) file, and only just realised
that such files work great on local drives, but do not work on network
drives - even if I take a CHM file created by Microsoft (e.g. an Office help
file) and put it on a network drive, it doesn't work.

I can understand disabling external URL links or running of programs from
such a file, due to security concerns - but I can't understand why a simple
help system consisting of nothing more than pages linking to each other
relatively should be so completely disabled just because it's on a network -
does anyone know why? It seems a huge flaw.

I think it will work if you map the network share to a drive letter.

I'm afraid not, my drives are already mapped in that manner. I do my work
directly from those drives, and thus having a drive letter makes it far
easier.

This is caused by the 896358 security update that Microsoft made
available via Windows Update in mid-June. See the following pages for
