Html and plain text in one email?

Is it possible to encode html and plain text into one
email? I have a situation where clients use text only and
html as the accepted forms of email.

I use .htmlbody as well as .body, but if I set both, I get
both in the same email. Since I do not know which clients
have either set, how can I accomplish this?

How do I serve both types? The text only group is using
Lotus notes.

Thanks in advance

Outlook does this automatically. If you create an HTML format message, it automatically creates a matching text part. You cannot control the content of the text part, which is derived from the HTML content.

In other words, just set HTMLBody and let Outlook do the rest.
