After searching the net, I've about decided on obtaining a Alpha PAL 8045
HSF unit,
as it has good ratings and is a bolt on config. Anyone know if it fits a
A7N8X DLX rev. 2
and what would be a good choice of (preferably quieter) Fan for it? (comes
without).

It should work, according to Alpha themselves. Go here:

and type in "8045 a7n8x" into the search box.

While the PAL8045 is an outstanding HS (I've several of them myself), I
think they have been surpassed by newer, better HS's on the market now,
including ThermalRight's SLK900 and Swiftech's latest offering

For a good fan, it's hard to go wrong with Papst, or the slightly cheaper
Panaflo series. Sunon fans aren't bad, either. You can prolly find some at
www.plycon.com or www.caseetc.com
