I have a Sapphire Radeon 9100 with a fan that's now causing excessive noise.
I would like to replace it, does anyone have any brand/model
recommendations? Thanks.

My old Sapphire 9100 came with a stick-on HSF which are damn hard to come
by. I rang Sapphire and they refused to send me one. In the end I took a
40mm fan off an old CPU cooler and screwed it into the heatsink (removed the
embedded fan first) and although it didnt look pretty it worked great and
allowed me to clock up the core because it was a faster fan.

Excellent Idea. Does your 40 mm fan fit right into the ATI heat sink the
way the original did, or is it a "near" fit? Also, what voltage is the fan
connector on the 9100? Thanks.

No - a standard fan has a support frame right and the screws go through it
to the heatsink
underneath. So the new fan sits on top of the heatsink - its not embedded
like the original.
Its not pretty but it does the job. And I plugged the connector into a spare
socket on the
mobo but you could splice the wires into the original connector and it would
work.
