hrs and mathematical equations

Just wondering
Is there a way to perform mathematical equations on cells that have a number
and lets say hrs.
It is takes time to remove the hrs in a cell if I am adding a bunch of time
cells.
So could you set a preference to add
10 hrs + 15 hrs and get 25 or 25 hrs?

thanks

Here's a little experiment you can do. Highlight cells A1:A3 on a
blank/new worksheet and click on Format | Cells | Number tab then
click on Custom at the bottom of the list. In the Type box enter this:

0" hrs"

then click OK.

Now enter 10 in A1 - it will display as:

10 hrs

Put 15 in A2, and it will display as:

15 hrs

Then in A3 put this formula:

= A1 + A2

and this will then display:

25 hrs

So, if you format the cells with the text string that you want to see,
you can carry out arithmetic on the numbers that you put into those
cells.

Hope this helps.
